City Decedere - - WARS version Darkness Demo Released (Page5)




City Decedere is a Horror game, and part of my 3rd year Dissertation at University “a theoretical study into the horror genre and psychological fear, evaluated by an implementation of such fear evoking stimuli in a game engine.”

The first level released on the 10th February was the first level in the story – called Happening. This has more of a Western take on horror.
The second level is called Darkness; it continues on the story and has more of a Japanese take on horror. This level was released on the 15th March, due to University deadlines.
The mod overall doesn’t as of yet have a proper story, as for the purpose of the uni project, it is more a demonstration level. After I have finished uni, I will continue to create more levels for the mod, and implement a proper storyline.

Looks realy good!

But Amy dosnt looks scary :/ u should make her like those "Japanese Horror Movies" with black long here and maby some black around her eyes and more scary eyes.

But everything else looks good! Great work!

Btw, is that an skin for the nanosuit you use for the hands? You should make own hand that looks more realistic becouse the nanosuit skin looks pretty wierd.

And if it is modeled arms and hands im realy sorry lol.

lol someone else made them, just textures over Nomads hands.
I'd love to have a full custom body, and maybe even make the game completely 3rd person - but of course that all takes some work and time Frown
maybe once uni is over i can spend more time tweeking extras like that Tongue

To be honest the zombies got boring after a while. Also if you play in 3rd person like I did Tongue , you'll notice that Amy is pretty big for a little girl Tongue . I'll be waiting for the next part Happy .

end cutscene


thanks everyone for all the feedback from the questionnaire Big Grin

some people mentioned that the end cutscene animation wasnt really working for them, so i thought i might show you guys what it should hopefully look like.



also - some people mentioned that it was a shame that i used the hunter at the end - yes it was a shame Crying because i really wanted to create an uber cool scary looking demon dragon monster beast that was 10m tall and had fire particles attached to its body as it moved - but unfortunately i dont know how to do that Frown attach particles and rig a 10m monster

I like your voice acting; it is some of the better ones I have heard for small projects like this. Having it more gritty and raw adds to the atmosphere i think. Nice one

Big Grin oh thanks for the + on the voice acting - i was a bit worried because i really wanted the voice acting to be believeable, but i only had a small 2hr window to record everything due to hardware failures at our recording studio Frown
so im really happy you guys like it Big Grin
when the hardware is fixed i might re-record some lines to make the acting better and maybe better quality too

Update - Melee weapons test




For level 2 of the mod, you have entered into a ww2 bomb shelter, and in keeping with the realism, there isn't going to miraculously be G19 and shotgun ammo. So, you have to use anything you can get your hands, in order to beat away any monsters that might be lurking in the bunker.

so here is my first batch of Melee weapons for this level.

Pickaxe:
Hidden in the first level as an Easter Egg - this becomes one of the more useful weapons in this level and will be provided from the start. Its quite powerful, and as its a one handed weapon, its quick to use.


Bayonet:
A WW2 Bayonet, its longer than a normal knife, its very fast to use, but its a bit blunt so its not as powerful


Sledgehammer:
Very powerful Blunt Force Tramma weapon. But as its heavy and needs two hands - its slow to use. Watch out for any monsters that might be weilding this weapon or you will quickly have your head smashed in.


Firehook:
As a two handed weapon its also a bit slow, but it is very look so has a good reach over your enemies.


Video:
To demonstrate the weapons ingame, here is a basic video capture.



Bugs:
As you can see from the video, the AI seem to have a rather look reach with their weapons - they seem to be able to hit you even though they are 2 metres away. This looks like a similar problem that the game Condemned had lol. Any help to fix that would be much appreciated

Also - i really really really wanted to create some custom full body animations for the AI. I know how to create animations using the SDK, BUT i suffer the rotation and AI in the ground problem, and I have been following this thread to try and fix it, but its not working.
So if anyone thinks they can help out, it would be much appreciated Tongue Tongue
