Detailed Crysis/Crysis Warhead Specifications

This thread is not official and deals a lot with hardware, so I figured this was the best place to put this thread. We've all seen the many performance questions here. So maybe I can reduce the amount new threads about performance questions in the Crysis series (but of course not). Here I'll list some good parts for playing the Crysis games on the given setting.

Low Settings:

OS: Windows XP or Vista (32 or 64 bit)
CPU: Single core 2.8 ghz (3.2 ghz for Vista)
Memory: 1 GB RAM (1.5 GB RAM for Vista - DDR2)
GPU: 256 MB

Suggested CPU: Intel Pentium 4 Northwood @ 2.8 ghz (Intel Pentium 4 EXTREME edition @ 3.2 ghz for Vista)
Suggested GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9400GT/512 or greater, ATI Radeon HD 4650 or greater

Medium Settings:

OS: Windows XP or Vista (32 or 64 bit)
CPU: Dual core 2.53 ghz (2.66 ghz for Vista) or faster
Memory: 2 GB RAM - DDR2 800 mhz or faster
GPU: 256 MB

Suggested CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO E7200 @ 2.53 ghz (XP) or Intel Core 2 DUO E8200 @ 2.66 ghz (Vista)
Suggested GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9500GT/GDDR3 or greater, ATI Radeon HD 4670 or greater

High Settings:

OS: Windows XP or Vista (32 or 64 bit)
CPU: Dual core 2.83 ghz or faster
Memory: 2 GB RAM - DDR2 800 mhz or faster
GPU: 512 MB or greater

Suggested CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO E8300 @ 2.83 ghz
Suggested GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT or greater, ATI Radeon HD 3870 or greater

Very High Settings:

OS: Windows Vista (32 bit or 64 bit)
CPU: Multi Core 3.0 ghz or faster
Memory: 3 GB RAM or more
GPU: See below

Suggested CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO E8600 @ 3.33 ghz or Intel Core 2 QUAD Q9650 @ 3.0 ghz
Suggested GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 or greater, ATI Radeon HD 4850 x2 or greater

With these things you should get a nice solid frame rate in SP on the setting I specified. This does not include mods, I repeat, this does not include mods. However if you want everyones dream you can use this rig:

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit
MOBO: (EVGA) Intel X58 Classified
CPU: Intel Core i7 EXTREME 965 @ 3.2 ghz
Memory: 12 GB RAM (Kingston 6 x 2 GB DDR3 2000 mhz Triple Channel)
GPU: (EVGA) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295 Quad-SLI

I always suggest Windows Vista over XP. If your PC is incredibly slow, get Windows Vista Home Basic which isn't all that much slower than XP. The Windows 7 beta is faster than both.

If you still have further performance questions they can go in here instead of in a new thread. Just a suggestion.

Always make sure you get a quality PSU. Check my signature for my other important threads.

Here is my PC and a Crysis benchmark (first level).

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit w/ SP1
MOBO: (XFX) NVIDIA nForce 680i LT SLI
CPU: Intel Core 2 DUO E8400 @ 3.6 ghz (1600 mhz FSB, revision C0)
Memory: 4 GB RAM (Crucial Ballistix DDR2/PC2 6400 @ 960 mhz)
GPU: (EVGA) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 CORE 216 - 55nm @ 684/1476/1190
PSU: COOLER MASTER Real Power Pro 650W (57A on the +12v line)

I would suggest nothing less than a Radeon X1600 for Low. Why would anyone buy a 8400 GS?

It's a real pity Crysis is so GPU dependant.
My CPU (QX6600) should be enough for Ultra high, while my GPU (8800GTX) is enough for most HIGH, some VERY HIGH...
What a pity

RE: Detailed Crysis specifications - Less performance questions

I agree, the 9000 series being nothing but a rehash of the 8000 series is a bit of a joke. They are faster but by how much? There's no real reason for me to upgrade from my 8800gtx just yet, i think i'll wait until june/july when the next wave of cards come out and see what they've managed to do then Smile

The 9800GX2 is nice though... Quad-SLI...

NOOO... 8800 GTS 640Mb is G80, previous generation core revision. It isn't even better than the 8800 GT. Next step up would be 8800 GTS 512Mb [G92], 8800 GTX, 3870X2, or 9800 GX2.

Also, SLI RAM is not cumulative. 2x 8800 GT 512Mb != 1024Mb + 8800 GT x2. The memory is mirrored between each card, there's still only 512Mb available. Trivial thing.

I'm a little skeptical about the 8400 GS being able to handle low well, though.

Recommending two 9800 GX2s, not so hot an idea right now. Quad-SLI support is sketchy at best at the moment.

Hey guys, I'm using an 8400GS. The only times I get a bad framerate are when someone nukes something in MP and when hackers drop 1,000 C4 charges everywhere. I run Crysis on low but with high water, physics, sound, and volumetric effects. Game effects are on medium and the rest on low. Also if you blow up lots of things in SP my framerate drops slightly.

Also I said 2 9800GX2's which are the best. 1 GB 512 bit is great and that's just one card. I wasn't serious with that rig though, for that money you can get a used car. It's like a month of pay.

No1 1000 so are two 8800GT 512's able to run very high with a good frame rate or should I change what I said. I've heard it runs well on very high, still better than an 8800GTX and 8800GT 1 GB which is supposedly a ripoff.

32 bit VS. 64 bit

BUMP

I'm using my thread like I planned and asking another question. I hear CryTek suggests 64 bit OS for under very high. Why don't they suggest it for very high? I plan on using Vista Ult. 64 bit on very high. Should I use 32 bit and why?

Thanks for future responses.

I got a promotion.

What would you suggest for my upcoming laptop (maybe which custom config)

C2D 2.2 Centrino
2 Gig of DDr2
Geforce 8700m GT (which is supposed to equal the 8600 GT in a Desktop system)

It's not a monster mama system but it's ok for actual gaming and it's mobile so i can take it with me on my bike Smile

A suggestion maybe add which Vista Version to use for the single Set ups (like the Dream rig will only run with Vista 64 due to it's massive amount of RAM)

You can get all medium settings with high water, sound, and volumetric effects. I suggest Windows XP for you. I'd only use Vista if you want very high settings.

You don't need 3.5GB RAM for Very High.

You don't need more than 2GB for any setting.

that laptop will work, but a higher-clocked processor would probably be better [though a bit pricey].

Why do you suggest a 2.2GHz dual-core processor for Very High? You should have at least an E8*00 series, 3GHz+ at that.

Medium settings sound ok for me Smile . So tahnks so far. Like said it's not a monster machine but it's enough for UT3, Oblivion, Fear (and project Origin i guess) and for most other stuff at the moment. Crysis just medium? well just perfect that's all that i asked for^^.

With the vista point i meant that the opener of this thread wrote the Recomandations for the single Graphic settings but it might be cool for people to add that everything above 4Gigs of ram needs Vista 64.

I've seen 2.2 ghz dual cores run Crysis on very high with good frame rates. Plus CryTek suggests that as well.

I know 2 GB is enough, but on very high you won't get 30 FPS. 3.5 GB RAM isn't much money and it will boost your frame rate up, especially for Vista.
