Grenade Returning System v1.0 |
| Description: |
Overview
The system is a flowgraph that requires no modifications upon importing into your map, allowing for ease of use for even the most inexperienced modder. The flowgraph allows the player to pick up grenades that have been thrown by the enemy within a certain distance, adjust the angle at which the return will be dealt, and then toss the grenade back in that direction. I would also like to thank Triggerman for his contribution to the early workings of the flowgraph, and Dark Shadow for his last minute debugging and configuration. I have also included a screenshot of the flowgraph to give a rough idea of what makes the system function.
How It Works
The basic system is easy to understand, but a challenge and a skill to master. In order to return the grenade, all that needs to be done is to look (exactly) at the grenade, hold down F, aim at the target, and release F. The flowgraph then launches the grenade with a predefined force in the direction you chose. At first some may find this difficult to master, as it all needs to be done quickly for the grenade to reach its target before exploding.
Demo Video
To show off the feature, I've created a little demonstration video showing the effectiveness of the system (as well as what can go wrong :P).
What's Next
Currently as its at version 1.0 theres a few things I plan to add with the next release. These include;- Increase in throw distance when using strength mode.
- Slight slowmotion effect with image effects during grenade picking mode to aid ease of operation.
- Use of the stock grenade throwing animation.
- Allow the player to pick up their own grenades.
I'm open to more suggestions, so feel free to post them in the thread. The current release can be found in the attachment. If you want to use it in your map/production I'm not really bothered about credit, so use away! :)
Installation- Download the attached rar file and unzip the flowgraph into your level directory (i.e. Crysis/Game/Levels/YOURLEVELNAME}
- Open up your map, and either create a flowgraph from the parameters of an entity on your map or find a flowgraph that already exists which you'd like to import the flowgraph into.
- Go to File > Import, find the flowgraph, and click OK.
- You're now ready to throw back grenades! I've annotated the flowgraph fairly well so people can understand the system used, so feel free to edit the values to suit your liking.
Have fun!
